Sax Forum: New frontiers in evidence generation

What new technologies are changing the way we conduct health research, and how will this impact the use of evidence in decision-making in the future?

These questions and more will be discussed at the Sax Institute’s first Sax Forum for 2024, to be held on Thursday, 4 July. This exciting online event will feature international speakers and a panel discussion on the topicNew frontiers in evidence generation and what it means for public health policy and practice’.

The guest speakers for the Sax Forum are:

  • Professor Trish Greenhalgh (University of Oxford), an internationally recognised academic in primary health care.
  • Professor Bronwyn Hemsley (University of Technology Sydney), a leading speech pathology researcher and co-lead of the UTS Disability Research Network.
  • Professor Julian Elliott (Monash University), one of the world’s leading researchers in technology for evidence synthesis.

Each speaker will be sharing their views on new technologies, including machine learning and wearable tech, and the potential impact on supporting the use of evidence in health decision-making. Drawing on their own research and practice areas, our speakers will consider how these technologies can improve the translation of evidence-based research findings into public health policy.

Sax Institute CEO Dr Martin McNamara will moderate a panel discussion and invite audience members to ask questions of the panellists.

The Sax Forum is an initiative that allows the Sax Institute to share knowledge among its Members and help understand what we can do better together. Previous Sax Forums have discussed collaboration in Aboriginal health research, the future of evidence support systems, and environmental health research.

Sax Forums are open to all staff of the Sax Institute’s Member network. To register for the Sax Forum, click here.
